Week 8 Central Pennsylvania High School Football Roundup

The Pennsylvania high school football season remains in full swing in the waning weeks of the regular season. Around Central Pennsylvania, one team that has an eye toward the playoffs and getting back to the state championship game is reigning 4A state champions Bishop McDevitt. The team, ranked 99th in the country by MaxPreps, looks to be well positioned to defend their title, following a 49-0 dismantling of Red Land High School to bring the team to 8-0 on the season and give them their 21st straight win. 

Junior quarterback Stone Saunders picked up where he left off last week and threw for another 253 yards and six touchdowns. He has thrown for more than 500 yards and 11 touchdowns in his last two outings. While senior receiver and Alabama commit Rico Scott led the way receiving, finishing the night with 168 yards and two touchdowns. On the defensive side, the team put up a statement performance, forcing five turnovers and allowing just 65 yards of offense. The team will look to move to 9-0 on the season as they welcome 4-4 Mifflin County for the Crusaders senior night. 

Elsewhere around Central Pennsylvania, a handful of MaxPreps top 25 Pennsylvania teams also took the field, including 2nd ranked Manheim, 11th ranked Harrisburg, 23rd ranked State College and 25th ranked Cocalico. For Cocalico, their 37-0 win over Donegal jolted them into the top 25. Scores for these games are below.
