In a commanding performance, the Penn State Nittany Lions secured a resounding 27-6 win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The victory propels Penn State to an impressive 9-2 record for the season, fueling excitement in Happy Valley as the team can still secure a New Year’s Six Bowl Game bid.
After quarterback Drew Allar went out with an injury, the run game, and running back Kaytron Allen in particular, took over. On the day, Allen rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Backup quarterback Beau Pribula, a freshman, also did his part on the ground, running for 71 yards and a touchdown. All told, the team amassed 234 yards on the ground and was responsible for all three touchdowns.
The Nittany Lions’ defense was equally formidable. They allowed just 229 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers en route to the win.
Looking ahead, the Nittany Lions are gearing up for a Black Friday matchup with the Michigan State Spartans. A win in that game will be a key step toward a New Year’s Six game.
