Pennsylvania is home to a huge number of people with sweet teeth eager to fill up on delicious treats—from Hershey’s enormous cacao kingdom to gourmet chocolate stores. Great news for those of you out there! You’re about to witness a top three list of chocolate endeavors in Pennsylvania that’ll leave you wanting a ticket to your own chocolate factory.

First on the list is the Gilbert family, who own and manage Georgie Lou’s Retro Candies, which create retro-inspired sweets and presents. Customers can purchase sweets in bulk by the bag or look into vintage craft soda companies. So if you’re in Carlisle, take a step back in time and satisfy your cravings.

Christoforos “Pop” Matangos established Matangos Candy in 1947. The company offers traditional, hand-dipped candies in PA, including chewables and jellies, boxed chocolates, fruit cordials, and something called a “Figaro,” a combination of three different kinds of chocolate mixed with hazelnut paste and layered together. Visit the wonderfully adorable storefront of Matangos in downtown Harrisburg.

Last, but certainly not least, The Hotel Hershey features possibilities to make your own truffles at The Hershey Story Museum and hot-chocolate slumber parties at the Hershey Lodge®. Don’t forget to visit The Circular, which has a White Chocolate Mascarpone Mousse that will melt when consumed. Try the Hotel Hershey specialty coffee for coffee enthusiasts, which contains Kahlua, Brandy, and Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup.
